Description
Botanically speaking, wild rice is not related to real rice but is the edible seed of aquatic grasses. The subtle nutty taste goes well with almost all recipes but particularly well with mushrooms and aromatic vegetables such as asparagus, Brussels sprouts and broccoli. Ideal as a side dish, in salads and soups or as a filling.
Note: This wild rice is cultivated along the banks of lakes and harvested from boats. The grains turn brownish-black when dried.
Manufacturer's recommendation for preparation:
Simmer 200 g rice in 400 ml water for about 45 to 50 minutes until the grains burst open. Then process further as desired.
