Description
You either love it or you hate it: the intensive, liquorice-like, sweet flavour of anise that is unique but not liked by all. It starts off with a striking sweetness, it quickly sweeps into a spicy, refreshing note that is similar to that of the famous digestifs Ouzo and Pastis.
Tips & Preparation:
Anise is used to refine bread, pastries and cakes. However, anise is quite versatile and is well-known in Indian cuisine. Fish dishes and alcoholic beverages also benefit from the addition of anise.
Tip: Its flavour best unfolds when it is ground using a mortar shortly before adding it to the dish or beverage.
